Early Years Resource Worker
Tanya Brown is a Wet’suewet’en/Nadut’en woman of the Lake Babine Nation. She is the daughter of Frances & Jeff Brown (Chief Madeek of Moricetown) and belongs to the LIkh’tsamisu (Beaver/Grouse Clan). Tanya has worked in the field of social work in various capacities for the past 20+ years – ranging from front line youth work to support worker in Transition home, Drug & Alcohol NNADAP support and early childhood education. Tanya is joining the Friendship Centre as the Early Years Resource Worker, which will provide families with connections to services, support and advocacy, resource referrals. This role will also seek to host and collaborate with early years services, utilizing a culturally competent lens, to enhance and strengthen service and connections to our families.
The Houston Early Years Centre initiative is an outreach driven mobile hub staffed by an Early Years Resource Worker that serves the rural, northern community of Houston. The Early Years Resource Worker assembles and promotes information and resources on existing early years services, issues, and processes. In providing a coordinated point of entry into Early Years services, the Early Years Resource Worker uses outreach, community partners, and social media to connect with Early Years families and to connect those families to Early Years services and resources.
